Design Development Company Expands to 'Pen to Plate' Restaurant Service, From First Sketch to Opening-Day Smallwares

The Agoura Hills design firm founded by Ron Lieberman now handles kitchen and bar equipment, FF&E, millwork and smallwares alongside its design work.

AGOURA HILLS, CA, UNITED STATES, October 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Design Development Company, the Agoura Hills restaurant and foodservice design firm founded by Ron Lieberman, has expanded its services into a complete "Pen to Plate" package for restaurant, hospitality and foodservice operators. Clients can now take a project from creative concept to opening day with one team.

For over 30 years, Design Development has provided concept development, architectural and interior design, and commercial kitchen design. The firm's client list includes Hard Rock Cafe locations in the United States and abroad, The Walt Disney Company, Starbucks, Fleming's Prime Steakhouse, Roy's, Kimpton hotel restaurants and Gladstone's 4 Fish.

The expanded package adds the purchasing side of a project to the design work. Services now include:

- Creative concept development, architectural and design services
- Complete working drawings and permit coordination
- Kitchen and bar design with full specifications, plus complete equipment packages with installation
- Furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) sourcing, costing and procurement, including booth seating, chairs, tables, decor lighting and floor coverings
- Millwork such as bars, counters, stone tops, hostess stations and wine displays
- Opening-day and replacement smallwares, small appliances and cookware
- Construction bidding coordination and introductions to FF&E and equipment financing

The firm will also quote any single portion of a project, whether a new build or a simple refresh, and will bid on existing specifications developed by other firms. That gives operators a second number to compare against their current provider.

"At Design Development Company, we are more committed than ever to helping you bring your vision to life with bold creativity and comprehensive support," said Ron Lieberman, President and CEO.

Lieberman said rising wages and food costs are pushing operators to look for savings beyond the menu, including smaller footprints, enclosed patios and value-engineered construction, equipment and furniture packages. "You need to reduce your costs somewhere to cover the increases in wages and food costs and maintain a reasonable menu pricing in order not to scare your guests away," he said.

The family-run firm is led by Ron Lieberman and David Lieberman, Vice President and Creative Director, who comes from a family of artists. The firm describes itself as three generations of family experience working together. Its work extends beyond restaurants to family entertainment centers, hotels, healthcare and senior living projects, including Long Beach Memorial Hospital, Sutter Hospital in Sacramento, Henry Mayo Hospital, and Grand Care and Country Villa skilled nursing facilities.

"David and I would love the opportunity to discuss how we can support your next new build or remodel," Lieberman said.

Operators planning a new location, remodel or refresh can send plans and existing specifications to the firm for a quote. Project photos and the full client list are at https://designdevelopment-group.com/.
